Korean Jade The greenish-yellow color of this stone leads many to believe it is a serpentine, specifically a form called bowenite.
The genuine gems do not have any countries name attached to it like Indian Topaz, Korean Jade, Japanese Amethyst etc. Such names are the trade names created by the retailers themselves for their gems to boast the sales.
bowenite - A translucent, massive, fine-grained, greenish-white to yellowish-white variety of serpentine that resembles nephrite jade in appearance and sometimes is sold as such, when it is known by the popular misnomer of "Korean jade.
