Laser Drilling of Diamonds
Laser drilling involves the use of a laser to burn a tunnel or hole down to any dark carbon inclusions or piqué, followed by acid washing to remove the coloring agent.

Laser Drilling
This enhancement treatment technique has been found way back in 1980. Since then it has been successfully used for enhancing the clarity of diamonds.

Laser drilling: A way of enhancing a gem by drilling a tiny hole with a laser to remove an impurity.
Lavalier: (Negligee Pendant): A necklace with two pendants of unequal length suspended from it.

Laser Drilling
Laser Drilling is where they literally drill a hole into the Diamond (usually through the Pavilion) all the way into the Black Spot where they will burn out or dissolve the Inclusion out leaving nothing but a Cavity (and tube) in ...

Laser Drilling - A process used to remove inclusions (flaws) from diamonds, improving their clarity.

Laser Drilling
Enhancement process used to improve the appearance of a diamond which contains dark inclusions.

Laser Drilling
L = Laser Drilling: Use of a laser and chemicals to reach and alter inclusions. Example: Laser-drilled diamond
Reconstruction ...

Laser drilling: Technique of enhancing the clarity of a diamond by providing access for bleaching agents to inclusions in a diamond. The drill hole is less than 5/1000th of an inch in diameter and is only visible under magnification.

Laser Drilling
A diamond enhancement technique by a laser which is used to drill a diamond to remove inclusions. BY using this laser drilling technique, clarity grade of a diamond can be raised.
Length-to-width ratio ...

Laser drilling: (AGTA Code = L) Thus far, this treatment, a type of clarity enhancement, has been seen only in diamonds, and is virtually always combined with acid "bleaching" and fracture filling.

Laser drilling
Diamond enhancement process that involves drilling a hole into diamonds with the aid of laser beam to remove inclusions.
Laser identification ...

Laser drilling uses a laser to drill down to a dark inclusion in a diamond. The dark inclusion is then removed by the laser or through chemical bleaching. Lasering is also used to reach internal fractures so the fracture can be filled.

About 1 in 3 diamonds in this country is laser drilled, according to Fred Cuellar, a leading diamond expert.

While laser drilling and fracture filling are used to improve a diamond's clarity, high pressure / high temperature (HPHT) treatments are used to improve color by removing brown colorations from the diamond.

Clarity enhancements are performed by bleaching dark inclusions following laser drilling, ...

The most common types of treatment to improve the clarity of a diamond are laser drilling and fracture filling. Laser drilling is commonly used to create a tiny passage to the inclusion.

Techniques include laser drilling, fracture filling (clarity enhancement), high pressure high temperature (HPHT) annealing, irradiation, and surface coloration.

Treated: Diamonds that have been artificially modified to improve their color or clarity. Techniques include laser drilling, fracture filling (clarity enhancement), high pressure high temperature (HPHT) annealing, irradiation, ...

In any event the GIA does not issue expert opinions for stones which are treated in this fashion, as, unlike in the case of laser drilling, the durability of this artificial treatment cannot be guaranteed.
Laser-drilled diamonds ...

Kiduah meyuhad is hebrew for "special drill". It refers to a process for internal laser drilling of diamonds first developed in 2000.
Kimberley ...

We do not sell any diamonds that are known to have undergone any enhancements. These would include treatments, such as clarity or color enhancing, fracture filling, or laser drilling.
What makes 18K gold more valuable than 14K?

Treatment by laser drilling must always be disclosed to the buyer, without exception. Failure to notify and explain both the advantages and disadvantages to the buyer before purchase is nothing more than fraud.

Fluorescence (not needed on melee)
Enhancements (laser drilling, fracture filling, etc)
Plotting with plotting key (stones over 0.50ct)
Inscriptions (e.g., report number 123456 inscribed on girdle) ...

enhancements are specific treatments, performed on natural diamonds (usually those already cut and polished into a gem), which are designed to better the gemological characteristics of the stone in one or more ways. These include laser drilling to ...
