Mixed cut:
The mixed cut first appeared in the middle of the 1960's. It was a combination of mixing the step cut and the brilliant cut. It is how the princess , one of the most popular shapes, is cut today.

 


Mixed Cut - Mixed Cut couples the best of both brilliant and step cuts; it combines the dimensions of step cut with the brilliance of brilliant cut. In a Mixed Cut, typically the crown is brilliant cut and the pavilion is step cut.

The cutting style most often used for rubies, sapphires and other colored gems is the mixed cut, so-called because it combines a brilliant cut crown with a step cut pavilion.

Mixed Cut:
This style is a combination of the brilliant and step facets. Many mixed cuts have step faceting on the crown and brilliant faceting on the pavilion, however this is sometimes reversed.

Mixed cut - Used more for transparent colored stones than diamonds, the mixed cut simply means that the stone has both step and brilliant cut facets.

There are basically three types of cutting patterns, the brilliant cut, the step cut and the mixed cut (a combination of brilliant and step cuts).

Princess Cut is one of the most popular kinds of mixed cuts which highlight the brilliance of the diamonds. This particular cut was introduced in the 1960's by A. Nagy.
