The state of Arkansas purchased the Murfreesboro property in 1972, converting it into an 888 acre state park.

Discovered in Crater of Diamonds State Park, near Murfreesboro, Arkansas in 1977, the Kahn Canary is considered to be an unofficial symbol of the state.

The gem was discovered near Murfreesboro situated in Arkansas. Found by W.O. Bassum in the year 1924, the stone was named after the nickname of the founder, "Uncle Sam". This precious stone was cut twice.
