Custom needle point embroidery with the dog's name is hand washable. Whereas waterproof collars are easy to maintain and are strong yet soft to feel. They are covered with polyurethane and made from polyester and nickel plated hardware.
One such specialisation was needle pointing which up until 1870 was done by hand. This was the best paid job available, but it was also the most dangerous.
