Overlay Technique: A decorative technique involve two flat pieces of silver, or other metal. The top piece has a design cut out of it and is highly polished.
Hopi OverlaySee overlay technique. A style of jewelry made by the Hopi Indians. InlaidA space is routed out of the material, and a contrasting material is fitted into that space.
Later (after 1725), an overlay technique was developed in which two (or more) layers of glass are fused together, and then the upper layer(s) are partially carved away, creating a multi-colored bas relief (similar to a cameo).
