Interestingly, a rare orange pink variety of sapphire known as padparadsha or lotus flower is more expensive than blue sapphire. There is a rare variety of sapphire that changes colour in different lights.

Sapphire comes in various colors; blue in a variety of shades, colorless, orange (Padparadsha), pink, yellow, green, violet, and even black. The most popular shade for sapphires is a deep cornflower blue.
