Morganite is the pink variety of beryl. Like its blue cousin aquamarine, it is a durable stone with soft color.

Morganite, which is also known as "pink emerald", is a pale pink transparent variety of beryl (aquamarine, emerald, heliodor). The stone was named after banking tycoon J.P. Morgan, and was coined by Tiffany's chief gemologist, George Kunz in 1911.

Also known as pink beryl, rose beryl, pink emerald, and cesian beryl, this light pink to rose colored gemstone was named for financier and gem aficionado J.P. Morgan.

These misnomers, including "pink emerald" for morganite, only serve to misinform and further confuse the buying public. Such tactics are the bane of reputable members of the gem and jewelry industry who strive to serve the public and their clients.

The synthetic stones are produced and sold under different trade names so as to deceive the innocent buyers. Pink Emerald and Pink Aquamarine are such misleading names from which buyers need to be careful while buying the gems or the jewelry made ...
