Pinpoints (Pp) Inclusion Photography
Internal Pinpoints (Pp), or Pinpoint Inclusions are minute included crystals within the diamond that appear white under magnification. Large groupings of small pinpoints can create a cloud inclusion effect.

Double-terminated crystals have grown, not out of a rock surface, but in clay, which allows them to form two points.

A carat is 100 points in diamond weight. A carat is also 1/5th of a gram. It is also 1/14200th parts of an ounce. This is a very small unit of weight effecting price in a very big way. Karat, is the measure of gold purity.

The major value points are the depth and purity of the purple color and the degree of translucence. Within the opaque type, those which are the richest and purest purple color (without appearing black) and least mottled are the most valuable.

The making of the facets is rather slow work, especially when, as is usually the case in making the "table" the work has to be done against one of the "hard points" of the crystal.
