Rainbow MoonstoneRainbow moonstone is yet another magic of nature. The multiple hues do not only make it look great, its colorful rainbow effects have the power of cleansing your soul and flooding your inside with plenty of positive energy.
India-Cut Rainbow Moonstone (-045-09)
Moonstone beads cut in India tend to be somewhat irregular in shape, with holes that are sometimes off-center and rough.
Sri Lankan rainbow moonstone possesses all these qualities and as it is quite rare and becoming rarer, it is definitely a “must have' for any jewelry collection.
Rainbow moonstone is technically a labradorite variety. Spectrolite is dark translucent gemstone with an intense blue flash which is mined in Finland. Labradorite from Madagascar has minute black inclusions and a blue, green or golden flash.
Rainbow moonstone is milky white with a rainbow colored sheen. Moonstone is the most valuable form of feldspar and is composed of albite, which gives it the bluish scheen, and orthoclase feldspar.
A variety of feldspar known as the rainbow moonstone is also found in India and Madagascar. In a rainbow moonstone, the adularescent sheen ranges from pink to purple to blue to peach to yellow. A single rainbow moonstone may exhibit all these colours.
My favorite pendant is a large rainbow moonstone cabochon ringed with raspberry garnet stones. Periodically, throughout the day, I hold it and move it to experience the radiance of its flash, especially if I'm feeling especially stuck in an emotion.

Another related feldspar variety is known as rainbow moonstone. In this variety of labradorite feldspar, the sheen is a variety of rainbow hues, from pink to yellow, to peach, purple, and blue. Sometimes one gem will show all these colors.
Labradorite is sometimes called rainbow moonstone, term which is now prohibited.
