Rubellite is the name given to dark pink to red tourmalines, especially those with reasonably saturated colors and medium to dark tones. Ruby red stones with little orange or brown overtones are the most highly sought after.

"Rubellite", which can easily be mistaken for a ruby, is extraordinarily beautiful. Like other hues, it and its counterparts come in a variety of tones and intensities. "Indicolite" is a magnificent blue and can be confused with sapphire.
