Seed beads are small uniformly shaped beads that come in a myriad of shapes, sizes, colours and finishes. Aside from embroidery, they are most commonly used for loom and off-loom bead weaving techniques such as brick stitch and peyote stitch.

Seed bead: (also seed-bead, seedbead). Mass produced tiny glass or plastic beads made by slicing tubes into tiny evenly spaced pieces. This makes them oblong in shape, rather than round, and flat on the ends.

Very tiny glass beads, typically measuring about 1 millimetre to a few millimetre in diameter. They may be used for detailed work in embroidery or may be simply strung onto a necklace.

Glass seed beads, extremely common, are made by several countries - Czech, Japan, India, France and Italy to name a few. These beads are usually tiny and come in a range of sizes ( all small sizes usually less than 6mm) and different shapes.
