A pearl's size is measured by its diameter in millimeters. Pearl sizes range from 1 millimeter or less, to 20 millimeters (3/4 of an inch) for the largest black Tahitian pearls.

As the carat size of a diamond increases, the diamond's price increases at an increasing rate. Why? Because the larger the diamond, the more increasingly rare it is.
