Spread Diamonds are narrow (shallow) Diamonds that look larger than they really are. The Width is wider than normal and the Depth is shallower than normal (normal by Ideal Cut Standards).
This doesn't sound like a big deal, but trust me, it really is! ...

 


SPREAD:
The face-up appearance of the diamond in terms of size; never to be confused with the actual carat weight of the diamond. Diamonds with Ideal cuts have an equal weight and spread.

Spread The diameter of a diamond or the normal weight equivalent assuming ideal proportions. Also used to describe a diamond which is cut too shallow, and therefore "spreads" more than it weighs.
