Stick Pin: A pin with an ornament on the top worn vertically on a scarf, tie, or lapel. Also called a "tie pin" or "lapel pin"
Stippled finish: A texture formed by a series of pricks made with a steel punch.

 


STICK PIN
An ornamental item on a long rigid wire that is pinned through fabric. A clutch is fastened at the bottom to prevent loss.

A more manageable collection might be of the stick pins that were used to hold the white stock in place. The head of the stick pin was often set with the image of a fox's or hound's head.

Typical jewelry items of the period were mosaic jewelry, the cameo brooch and the stick pin, with cameos of carved conch shell, hardstone agate, carnelian, and sardonyx, or Wedgwood ceramic, depicting mythological Greco-Roman imagery.
