Table
The table is the large, flat area at the top of a cut gemstone.

The striations, which to some observers have the appearance of being lasered onto the crystals, contain this knowledge.

The striations on the figure to the left are typical for natural trigonal crystals, like tourmaline. In the drawing, c is the pinacoid face and m the prism faces.

Newman Lines Fine striations seen in some high-nickel iron meteorites
Octahedrite Eight-sided crystal structure found in nickel-iron meteorites
Olivine A silicate mineral with the general formula (Mg,Fe)25i04 ...

On some pearl surfaces there is a regular pattern of parallel elongated striations that impart a silky sheen. In some specimens distinct microscopic “flames' can be observed that are actually thin lamellae.

The crystals are usually found as colorless hexagonal prisms, with pyramidal ends and striations perpendicular to their length; they are often twinned. Found worldwide, but the most important sources of rock crystal are in Brazil.

Synthetic ruby grown by the flame fusion technique usually shows curved growth striations or curved color zoning, and may contain unmelted grains and gas bubbles.

Crystals exhibit characteristic dense striations of the rhombohedral faces. Numerous readily visible internal cleavage fractures frequently impart a pearly lustre and cause unusual reflections from within the transparent stones.

His microscope helps him seeing parallel striations on the wire used to produce the filigree.

Another technique used by Faberge included guilloche, a surface treatment that could make waves and striations in the design and could be done by machine or by hand. Faberge used natural stones often found in abundance in the area.

Brushed: Similar to Matte finish, a brushed finish is composed of tiny striations, or scratches, in the finish as made by a metal brush. If the striations are very fine, the finish is similar to matte. The terms are often used interchangeably.

Its gray and white striations are often more pronounced than in the paler form. All amazonite of this color is called Russian, because dark amazonite was originally found in that region.

Plagioclase - triclinic(often flat or tabular with striations)
Color:
Orthoclase - usually light colored white, pink, yellow, or cream, and not transparent. The gem variety is clear to pale yellow, and some called "noble orthoclase" ...

Is a uniquely marbled manganese ore based gemstone which has beautiful striations of various shades of pink, ranging from very light to a deep raspberry.

Identification in hand sample:
Prominent striations, prismatic crystals and angle on cleavages is distinguishing.
Associations:
Forms in igneous rocks, and in the metamorphic rock amphibolite.

They grow as branching structures which look something like a leafless tree, and in the rough, show minute parallel striations on their surface. Although rather soft by gem standards, they are reasonably tough and take a high polish.

Good quality Corals have an even coloring and do not have any striations or holes in them. Imitation Corals are aplenty - dyed glass, plastic, shells and even heat-treated coral powder is passed of as authentic coral.

Growth planes also occur as internal defects in the shape of zoned latticed striations, which are sometimes lightly brown in color (Fig 33 and 34). The grade of clarity in this case is also determined according to the grade of discernibility.

Today, the prism-shaped crystals with their typical vertical striations are mainly found in Afghanistan, Madagascar, Brazil and the USA. The crystals, or fragments of crystals, often badly eaten away, can attain sizes of up to several kilogrammes.

Tourmaline is a complex silicate mineral (acentric rhombohedral borosilicate) with a parallel and striated crystal habit, growing elongated crystals with each prism face having pronounced vertical striations and subhedral formations.

Amazonite is found in the United States, Brazil, Zimbabwe, Russia, Australia, Namibia. Amazonite is usually light green to blue-green, mottled and sometimes contains light striations.

Miners face a lot of problem while mining this gemstone as it is repeatedly confused with minerals like tetrahedrite, galena and acanthite. Sometimes it shows striations.

Such material is rather easy to distinguish from natural material by the presence of curved growth striations and spherical gas bubbles or by the Plato method, in which repeated twinning lines appear when the material is immersed in high R.I.
