Shah Jehan Table-Cut
By any gemological standard the Shah Jehan Table-Cut Diamond is one impressive stone.

 


Table-cut: See Emerald Cut.
Table Percentage: The size of the table of a cut gemstone in proportion to the girdle obtained by dividing the table width by the girdle width.

Tanzanite: A variety of zoisite named after its country of origin, Tanzania, where it was first discovered in 1967 and is still the only place where it can be found.

This table-cut or flat diamond, measuring 44.6 by 33 by 3.6 mm and weighing 56.71 carats, is one of several that have been credited as a match for the Great Table Diamond viewed by Jean-Baptiste Tavernier at Golconda in 1642.

Later, table-cut diamonds were further modified by adding a smaller facet to the lower octahedral point to form a culet at the bottom of the stone.

Emerald cut: (Also referred to as "table-cut" or "step-cut"). A rectangular or square shaped cut with chamfered corners and stepped facets, typically parallel to the girdle. This cut is also used for precious stones other than emeralds.

It is a yellow diamond with extreme clarity. The Shah Diamond is table-cut which is called 'lasque'. The current weight of the stone has reduced to 86 carats. The three facets of the diamond are engraved with the names of three rulers.
