Uniformity: The grading system used to denote how well pearls in a piece of jewelry match one another. Uniformity can be excellent to poor.

Uniformity: The grading system for defining how well pearls match on a strand. They can be excellent, good or fair.

Color Uniformity: should be free of blotchiness.
Translucency: should be semitransparent in natural light.
Clarity: should be inclusion-free when illuminated from the back by a strong light.

Uniformity of a fine "emerald" green color, superb translucency, size, and symmetry all come together to produce the necklace known as the Doubly Fortunate. The 27 beads, which range from 15.09-15.

For the sake of uniformity of treatment we will once more follow the descending order of hardness among the gems and we thus begin by describing the occurrence of diamond.

The saturation and uniformity of the gem’s color.
The position of the star. While typically centered, in some cases the star is deliberately off centered for artistic affect (e.g., non-round cabochons).
The gem’s size and carat weight.

5-7 - Treatment: Dyed for color uniformity - Color: Black (See also Chalcedony) Onyx is similar to agate, but it has straight rather than curved bands. These may be brown and white or black and white.

Whichever shape you choose, look closely for uniformity of shape, color, and size. Roll the pearls gently over a smooth surface to feel for pearls that don't move in sync with the rest of the strand.
Consider luster and, in natural pearls, orient.

A grade given to the overall uniformity of a stone's cut. Symmetry grades range from poor (the lowest), to fair, good, very good and excellent/ideal. Poor symmetry will affect a diamond's sparkle and fire through loss of light.

The properties of ivory vary somewhat by species in terms of hardness, uniformity and the basic shape of the raw material.

These Far Eastern manufacturers have a well deserved reputation for achieving greater uniformity and consistency of size, shape and finish over Preciosa, their main Czech Republic based competitor, but their pricing does reflect this.

Sapphire: usually heated to produce intensity or light color and/or improve color uniformity.
Tanzanite: usually heated to produce violet blue color.
Aquamarine: usually heated to improve color.

Visual comfort and the ability to see an object being worked on well depend upon a number of factors which include: brightness, light spectrum type, glare, contrasts, shadows, reflections, uniformity of light distribution, diffusion, color, ...

These treatments give the stone uniformity and permanence of colour. Synthetic agates are often confused as onyx. An easy way of distinguishing one from the other is by looking at the types of the ribbons on the stones.

Sapphire is always heat treated to produce, intensify or lighten color and/or improve color uniformity and appearance. Heat treatment of sapphires is performed at the sapphire mines, and is a industry-wide accepted practice.

A grade given to the overall uniformity of a stone's cut, which can range from poor to excellent. Poor symmetry will hurt a diamond's sparkle and fire, due to loss of light as it flows through the stone and out to your eye.

Book reviews can be written following a few standard forms to establish uniformity in the reviews. The most important one being Form:Book. Simply fill in the title of the book name and it will create the form for you to fill out.

Symmetry is the grade used to describe the uniformity of the cut of the diamond. This can range from excellent down to poor. The un-symmetrical a diamond is the poorer will be the quality of light through the stone.

Truncated facets are wider than facets which run to a point at the girdle, and affect the uniformity of the ,facets. A truncated main facet, seen through the table, interrupts the symmetrical image of the adjoining facets (Fig 285).

Applying coloring matter to a gemstone in order to enhance its color or improve uniformity. This enhancement is usually permanent. In rare cases the dye will fade over time.

When gemologists say "cut," they are talking about a gemstone's proportions -- its depth and width and the uniformity of its facets -- all characteristics that control brilliance, durability and other qualities you're looking for in a diamond.

D - Dyeing: The introduction of coloring matter into a gemstone to give it new color, intensify present color or improve color uniformity.
