White agate

Jewelry Whiplash LineWhite gold

White Agate: See White Onyx.
White gold: An alloy made of gold mixed with nickel, sometimes also containing palladium or zinc.

A light blue or white agate with darker blue banding.
Brushed finish
A metal finish with fine brush marks.

White agate was used often in Victorian jewelry, mostly as a background. Moss agate has green, red or black dendritic inclusions. Onyx is agate whose bands are parallel. Eye agate has banding arranged in concentric circles. Agate has a hardness of 6.

Probably the prettiest agate is the Neapolitan Ice Cream Agate; a white agate alternatively banded with pink and red stripes. The Blue Lace Agate is also one of the most popular agates with its charming, blue lacy, wavy pattern on white.

Beware !
Because of its rather porous nature, gray and white agate is particularly susceptible to be dyed in various colors.
