1) in real estate, the increase of the actual land on a stream, lake or sea by the action of water which deposits soil upon the shoreline. Accretion is Mother Nature's little gift to a landowner.

 


Accretion definition:
The addition to land by the action of water.

The addition to land by the slow action of water.

Accretion:
The imperceptible and gradual addition to land by the slow action of water. Heavy rain, river or ocean action would have this effect by either washing up sand or soil or by a permanent retreat of the high water mark.

Accretion - The increase or accumulation of land by natural causes, as out of a lake or river.

Each of these accomplishments set the stage for a gradual accretion of power, respect, and prestige in the federal judiciary.

These accretions to membership continued rapidly during the years 1917-8 and resulted eventually in the admission of about 1,200 state institutions.
