ANNEXATION - The union of one thing to another.
In the law relating to fixtures, annexation is actual or constructive. By actual annexation is understood every movement by which a chattel can be joined or united to the freehold.

 


The annexation may be actual or constructive; 1st. By actual connexation or annexation is understood every mode by which a chattel can be joined or united to the freehold.

My instance is the Indian province called the Punjaub, the country of the Five Rivers, in the state in which it was for about a quarter of a century before its annexation to the British Indian Empire.

The successful reoccupation of the Rhineland (1936), the Anschluss with Austria, and the annexation of the Czech Sudetenland (both 1938) were bluffs that could have been stopped by a moderate show of resolve by those affected.

Essentially, a new state replaces a former state through annexation, union, dissolution, or separation. Partial succession occurs when a sovereign state partly loses its independence or when a partially controlled state becomes fully independent.

"Nevertheless, the method of construction used in this case amounts to an annexation in the circumstances. The natural surface of the Lands was prepared by stripping the topsoil off the site and excavating a trench.
