APPEAL - A request to a supervisory court, usually composed of a panel of judges, to review a lower court's decision.

Appeal Brief: A written communication submitted to a higher authority reviewing an adverse patentability decision by an examiner. In the U.S.

Appeals board: A group of seven commissioners appointed by the governor to review and reconsider decisions of workers' compensation administrative law judges.

Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court to decide whether the trial was conducted properly.

Appeal: A request to the higher court for review of the lower court's decision and to request a reversal of the judgment.

A typical appeal from a district court decision consists of the trial court record, oral arguments, and supporting briefs. A three-judge panel usually considers each appeal.

Appeal
A request to change a decision or order. Usually an appeal will seek review of the decision by a different decision-maker.

APPEAL
To appeal is to ask a more senior court or person to review a decision of a subordinate court or person.

Appeal: A request for a case to be looked at again by a higher court. Permission is not always granted. Appeals are possible in civil cases from either the defendant or the claimant but in criminal cases only from the accused.

Appeal - a legal action which seeks review by a court of a lower court decision.
Appellant - the side that lost in the trial court and has filed an appeal. Sometimes called the petitioner.
