case file: the court file containing papers submitted in a case
cause of action: grounds on which a legal action may be brought (e.g., property damage, personal injury, goods sold and delivered, work labor and services).

 


Case File: The court file containing papers submitted in a case.
Case Flow Coordinator: A person who keeps track of your case and supervises the scheduling of hearings and trials.

case file: The folder that has the official court papers for a case.
caseflow management: How a case is managed from the first paper filed to the final decision.
case ID: Identification number given to a case by the court.

An action is a case filed in Supreme, District, or Civil Court. The plaintiff must allege one or more causes of action against a defendant or multiple defendants.

All of these are placed in a case file which has a specific number assigned to it which must be stated on every document. The term is used: "When are you going to file the complaint," or "The answer will be filed tomorrow." 2) n.

DOCKET SHEET - A docket sheet is a document kept in a case file at the courthouse. It lists all papers filed and actions taken in a case. The judge may also note on it any action taken during a hearing or trial.

(n) Summons is the written document issued by the court directing the responded to file response within the allowed time containing information about the case filed against him.

Cause - A suit, litigation or action - civil or criminal. A case filed in court.
Change of Venue - The removal of a case begun in one county or district, to another for trial.

Sealing of Records - Case filed is sealed and thereafter such records cannot be examined except by order of the court.

Files Control Office - An Immigration and Naturalization Service field office either a district (including INS overseas offices) or a suboffice of that district where alien case files are maintained and controlled.

Exhibits - A document or item which is formally introduced in court and which, when accepted, is made part of the case file.

An amendment to the complaint cannot always overcome a demurrer, as in a case filed after the time allowed by law to bring a suit. If after amendment the complaint is still not legally good, a demurrer will be granted sustained.
