Literal Construction definition:
A form of construction which does not allow evidence extrapolated beyond the actual words of a phrase or document but, rather, takes a phrase or document at face value, giving effect only to the actual words used.

Liberal construction: Judicial interpretation of the law whereby the judge expands the literal meaning of the statute to meet cases that are clearly within the spirit or reason of the law.

Construction:
The legal process of interpreting a phrase or document; of trying to find it's meaning. Whether it be a contract or a statute, there are times when a phrase may be unclear or of several meanings.

Construction Loan
Short term financing of real estate construction. Generally followed by the long term financing called a "take out" loan, issued upon completion of improvements.

STRICT CONSTRUCTION A close or rigid reading of and interpretation of a law.
SUA SPONTE Of its own will or motion; voluntarily; with prompting.

Liberal construction

Strict Constructionist The term strict constructionist is intended to describe judges, and more particularly justices of the U.S. Supreme Court, who "interpret" the US Constitution "literally".
