Diversion In a criminal case, an alternative procedure in which the case is handled outside of the court, instead as part of the normal criminal justice system.

diversion - A procedure used in some criminal prosecutions against persons who are arrested and have no previous criminal background.

Diversion - The process of removing some minor criminal, traffic, or juvenile cases from the full judicial process, on the condition that the accused undergo some sort of rehabilitation or make restitution for damages.

DIVERSION - Also known as adjournment in contemplation of dismissal or conditional dismissal. A program in which a defendant is put on probation for a set period of time and his or 297 her case does not go to trial during that time.

Diversionary Programs: Community based programs that are used to keep eligible, convicted criminal offenders out of prison.
Docket: A list of cases scheduled to be heard in court on a specific day or week.

diversion - Procedures for handling relatively insignificant juvenile problems informally, without referral to Juvenile Court.

Diversion - The process of removing some minor offenses from the full judicial process, on the condition that the accused undergo some sort of rehabilitation or make restitution for damages.

diversion: Instead of going to jail, a defendant goes to a rehabilitation ("rehab") program and is supervised by a probation officer. When the defendant finishes the program, the charges are dismissed and the defendant is not sentenced.

Riparian rights include the right of access to, and use of, the water for domestic purposes (bathing, cleaning and navigating). The owner of the rights may take action to prevent damming, diversion or pollution of the water.
