Executor at Legal Glossary What is it? The person named in a will to handle the property of someone who has died. The executor collects the property, pays debts and taxes, and then distributes whats left, as specified in the will.

Executor
n. the person appointed to administer the estate of a person who has died leaving a will which nominates that person. Unless there is a valid objection, the judge will appoint the person named in the will to be executor.

Executor or Executrix: A person named in the decedent's will to serve as personal representative in probating the decedent's estate.

EXECUTOR
A person specifically appointed by a testator to administer the will ensuring that final wishes are respected (i.e. that the will is properly "executed"). An executor is a personal representative.

This is a certificate proving that the executors are entitled to deal with the estate. When a person dies the executors fill in various forms for the Probate Registry.

Where a personal representative is named in a will, the personal representative is known as an executor.
