Garnishee: The person upon whom a garnishment is served; usually a debtor of the defendant in the action; (verb) to institute garnishment proceedings.

 


Garnishee
(n) Garnishee is the person or legal entity who was served with a court order directing him or them to withhold the funds or the payments due to another person or entity until an order or sanction is received from the court.

Garnishee: An insurance company, bank, employer or others upon whom a judgment creditor has placed a Writ of Garnishment because that person or entity holds assets due the original debtor.
