General Damages
(n) General Damages are the compensation awarded by a court in Lawsuits where claim for the damages, loss or injury cannot be quantified accurately in money terms. Eg. Damages awarded for non performance of contract to play a drama.

General damages, sometimes styled hedonic damages, compensate the claimant for the non-monetary aspects of the specific harm suffered. This is usually termed 'pain, suffering and loss of amenity'.

General Damages Damages for non-monetary losses suffered by a plaintiff. These damages are not capable of exact quantification. Examples of such losses suffered include pain, suffering, and disfigurement. Nominal Damages Token (i.e.

Proof of malice, however, does allow a party defamed to sue for general damages for damage to reputation, while an inadvertent libel limits the damages to actual harm (such as loss of business) called special damages.
