INFRACTIONS: Sometimes called violations. Minor offenses, often traffic tickets, which are punishable only by a fine.

INFRACTION. The breach of a law or agreement; the violation of a compact. In the French law this is the generic expression to designate all actions which are punishable by the code of France.

Civil Infraction - An act or omission prohibited by law which is not a crime, for which civil sanctions may be ordered. Many traffic violations are classified as civil infractions.
