Intervention: An action by which a third person who may be affected by a lawsuit is permitted to become a party to the suit. Differs from the process of becoming an amicus curiae.
Inter Vivos Gift: A gift made during the giver's life.

intervention - Procedure in a suit or action by which the court permits a third person to intervene and become a party.
intestate - The status of a person who dies without leaving a will.

INTERVENTION
Proceeding in a suit where a third person is allowed, with the court's permission, to join the suit as a party.

intervention: Rule 24; a procedural device allowing a person who is not a party to an existing lawsuit to enter into the lawsuit.

Intervention
A person can volunteer to become a party in a lawsuit by a procedure called intervention.

A special intervention at trial occurring on the judge's initiative or on a party's motion, once the party with the burden of proof has closed his/her case, that the case be dismissed based on the allegation that the burden has not been met.

The interpleader has been compared to the intervention (q. v.) of the civil law. Gilb. For. Rom. 47. But there is a striking difference between them.

Act of God: An event resulting from natural causes, without human intervention (such as floods or earthquakes). Insurance policies often exclude acts of God.
Action: Proceedings in a civil court.

Certain forms of punishment, in all countries but the United States, can be given by the superior officer, without judicial intervention, for small purely military offences, where a summary Disciplinary procedureis required.

Claim of conusance is defined to be an intervention by a third person, demanding jurisdiction of a cause against a plaintiff, who has chosen to commence his action out of the claimant's court.
