JURAT (through Fr. from med. Lat. juratus, one sworn, Lat. jurare, to swear), a name given to the sworn holders of certain offices.

Jurat
It is derieved from a latin word meaning "to swear".Part of an affidavit which is sworn in front of a Notary Public by the person who signed it stating that the contents of his documents are true.

Jurat - Certificate of person and officer before whom a writing is sworn to.
Jurisdiction - The power or authority of a court to hear and try a case; the geographic area in which a court has power or the types of cases it has power to hear.

Jurat - The final statement signed by a person who is authorised to administer oaths indicating when the affidavit or statutory declaration was sworn, affirmed or declared.

Jurat
Certificate of officer or person whom writing was sworn before. In common term is employed to designate certificate of competent administering office that writing was sworn to by person who signed it.

jurat An attestation by a notary public or other official that a document is a sworn statement.

JURATA. A certificate placed at the bottom of an affidavit, declaring that the witness has been sworn or affirmed to the truth of the facts therein alleged. Its usual form is,: Sworn (or affirmed) before me, the ____ day of ____, 10 __.

Unlike a normal jurat, an acknowledgment confirms the identity of the individual signing the instrument. The precise language of the acknowledgment must be used, which is set by statute.

Ad quæstionem legis non respondent juratores. To a question of law, the jurors do not respond. Cadit quæstio. The question falls: discussion is at an end; there is no room for argument. Vexata quæstio. A mooted matter; a disputed point.

He presides as a judge in the Royal Court, and takes the opinions of the jurats; he also presides over the States, and represents the Crown on civic occasions.

jury - A certain number of men and women selected according to law, and sworn (jurati) to inquire of certain matters of fact, and declare the truth upon evidence to be laid before them.
