(n) License is the legal permission from the authorities to perform certain acts, conducts, activities etc which are restricted or otherwise controlled by the authorities as a matter of policy. Eg. License to hold weapons.

Licensee: In civil law, a person who enters land with consent, but nothing more.

Cross License: A license between two patent owners wherein each licenses its patent(s) to the other.

Business License A permit issued by a local or state governmental agency for a business to operate. Also called a tax registration certificate.

A special permission to do something on, or with, somebody else's property which, were it not for the license, could be legally prevented or give rise to legal action in tort or trespass.

License: 1. A right granted by one person (or company) to another giving permission to the other person to do something that he could not legally do without such permission.
