Moot - A moot case or a moot point is one not subject to a judicial determination because it involves an abstract question or a pretended controversy that has not yet actually arisen or has already passed.

 


Moot Court
(n) A moot Court is a symbolic court set by students and associations etc to conduct a trial on a fictitious issue or lawsuit. Moot court is used as a propaganda for any specific issue or as a learning and analyzing process.

Moot:
Also called a "moot point": a side issue, problem or question which does not have to be decided to resolve the main issues in a dispute.

Moot
No longer requiring a decision. For example, if a party would no longer be affected by the decision in a case, the case might become moot.

n. law school exercise in which students argue both sides of an appeal from a fictitious lawsuit in a mock court. There are also moot court contests between teams from different law schools.

motion - A formal request presented to a court.

moot A term describing a case or an issue that is no longer important; e.g., when a party brings a motion to compel answers to interrogatories but the other party supplies the answers before the motion is heard, the motion becomes moot.
