Polled/polling : Calling the names of the jurors and having them state what their final verdict is before it is recorded. Postpone : To put off until later.
Jury polled Each individual juror is asked to affirm his or her verdict in open court at the conclusion of a trial. Jury selection list A panel from which jurors, who will hear the case, are drawn.
If Americans had been polled in 1788, a large majority would probably have predicted that trials of cases coming within federal jurisdiction would take place in the various state supreme courts (see State Courts).
DEED POLL, contracts. A deed made by one party only is not indented, but polled or shaved quite even, and is, for this reason, called a deed poll, or single deed. Co. Litt. 299, a.
