Grievance Procedure
Under a grievance procedure, an employee dissatisfied with a disciplinary decision can apply to a higher authority. A grievance procedure generally advises an employee on how he can seek redress and what further steps may be taken.

Civil procedure -The rules and process by which a civil case is tried and appealed, including the preparations for trial, the rules of evidence and trial conduct, and the procedure for pursuing appeals.

As to procedure, the applicable law will be the law of the court (lex fori). But as to substantive law, the law used to resolve the dispute, international law has developed a system for prioritizing which law applies in given situations.

substance/procedure or substantive/procedural: these terms serve to distinguish between the law that governs general human conduct and the law that governs the resolution of disputes.

Biopsy: A procedure performed with a needle or surgical incision to remove a tissue sample to determine the presence of cancer cells through microscopic analysis.

Discovery: Procedures used to absorb information that pertains to the credibility of the opposing party's case. The term may also be used for the interview procedure between the attorney and the client at the initial meeting.

Administrative Procedure Act (APA)
This is a statute (Chapter 34.05 RCW) governing most administrative hearings in Washington.

Debulking: A procedure used for advanced cases of cancer, frequently applied to the treatment of ovarian cancer.

Closure: The procedure a landfill operator must follow when a landfill reaches its legal capacity for solid waste: ceasing acceptance of solid waste and placing a cap on the landfill site.

Appraisal: The procedure for determining the fair market value of an asset for equitable distribution in divorce.

Bronchoscopy: A procedure used to test for lung disease in which a small camera is attached to a tube that is moved down the trachea. Samples of lung secretions or lung tissue may be taken during the bronchoscopy procedure.

PROBATE A court procedure by which a will is proved to be valid or invalid.

Although procedures vary from one state to another, the request for a pardon usually involves a lengthy period of time of impeccable behavior and a reference check.

Objection - The act of taking exception to some statement or procedure in trial. Used to call the Court's attention to improper evidence or procedure.

Where a defendant in a civil case has not filed a defence or has not complied with court procedures, the claimant can make an application for judgment in default.
