Records: In business, particularly corporations, all the written business documents, especially about financial dealings. Thus, shareholders and partners are entitled to access to the "records" of the business.

Record: A written account of all the acts and proceedings in a lawsuit.
Reverse: When an appellate court sets aside the decision of a lower court because of an error. A reversal is often followed by a remand.

Trip Recorder (On-Board Computer): Cab-mounted device which electronically or mechanically records data such as truck speed, engine rpm, idle time and other information useful to trucking management.

CASE RECORD - All papers filed with the court during a lawsuit and the transcripts of all hearings and trials (made by a court reporter) become part of the official case record.

Court Of Record: A court in which a permanent record of proceedings is made; a court having the power to fine or imprison for contempt.

Record: All of the testimony and evidence that is used in court to decide a case. What is on record is what the Judge will use to make his or her decision.
Recross: The second round of cross - examination that occurs after redirect in a trial.

RECORD
(1) To preserve in writing, print or by film, tape, etc. (2) History or a case. (3) The word-for-word (verbatim) written or tape recorded account of all proceedings of a trial.

Inferior courts of record have, as a general rule, power to punish only those contempts which are committed in facie curiae or consist in disobedience to the lawful orders or judgments of the court.

Transcript - A written, word-for-word record of what was said. Usually refers to a record of a trial, hearing, or other proceeding which has been transcribed from a recording or from shorthand.

Refers to an accused who cannot be tried for a crime because the record shows he has already been subjected to trial for the same conduct and was acquitted.

Black letter law is not recorded in any one research source, nor is "black letter" a term you will find in most indices. Instead, you will need to research the specific area of law to determine the standard elements.

Lis Pendens
A legal notice recorded to show pending litigation relating to real property and giving notice that anyone acquiring an interest in said property subsequent to the date of the notice may be bound by the outcome of the litigation.
