Rent definition:
Money or other consideration paid by a tenant to a landlord in exchange for the exclusive use and enjoyment of land, a building or a part of a building.

Rent Review
The landlord may have reserved the right to review the rent at intervals during the period of the lease.

Rent
(V) Rent is the action by which the utility or benefits out of any article, property are passed on to another person for a specified compensation either for a limited period or for ever as the parties concerned may decide.

rent control - Laws that control the maximum amount of rent a tenant may be charged, and that establish when the amount of rent can be raised.
Replevin - An action for the recovery of a possession that has been wrongfully taken.

Rent: 1. To pay for the temporary use of a property, such as the renting of an apartment or an automobile. 2. Moneys paid in exchange for the use of property.

rent control ordinances: Laws in some communities that limit or prohibit rent increases, or that limit the reasons why a landlord can evict a tenant.

Rent
The consideration paid by a tenant to a landlord in exchange for the exclusive use and enjoyment of land, a building or a part of a building. Usually, rent is paid in money and at regular intervals, such as the first of every month.

Ground Rent
Rent paid for vacant land. If the property is improved, ground rent is the portion attributable to the land only.
Heir and Assigns
Words usually found in a deed, showing the interest the grantee is receiving.

A demand of rent must always be made before a re-entry for the non-payment of rent.
When a note is given and no time of payment is mentioned, it is payable immediately.

Example: Rent is due on the first of each month, but the tenant requested and received a 10-day grace period from the landlord. If rent is paid on or before the 10th, the tenant is not in default.

A landlord might grant abatement in rent by reducing the amount owed. Estate law may use the term more specifically. When an estate is settled, debts must be paid off before any willed property can be distributed.

A person to whom a landlord grants temporary and exclusive use of land or a part of a building, usually in exchange for rent. The contract for this type of legal arrangement is called a lease.

Provision in a lease agreement that releases the tenant from paying rent if an act of God makes occupancy impossible or otherwise precludes the property from being used.
