Stranding: the running of a ship on shore or on a beach. Strict liability: liability even when there is no proof of negligence.
STRANDING, maritime law. The running of a ship or other vessel on shore; it is either accidental or voluntary.
In cases of shipwreck, collision, stranding, explosion, fire or defect in the ship, the fault or neglect of the carrier is presumed. Similarly, for claims in respect of loss of or damage to luggage the fault of the carrier is presumed.
