(n) (suh-pea-nah) It is the order issued by court directing any person or witness to be personally present before the court at the designated place and time .

A document which compels a witness to appear at a specific place and time, either for discovery or for a trial. A subpoena can also request the production of documents , this is known as a Subpoena Duces Tecum.
