Search engine crawlers have a hard times crawling the web on occasion because the Internet has three main characteristics that make it harder to continually keep the index up to date.

 


Crawler / Robot / Spider
A program used by search engines to visit, examine and catalog factors on a given website.

Crawler - An automated program used primarily by search engines and other services to gather information from the World Wide Web.
Entry Page - The first page viewed by a visitor while browsing through a website.

Crawlers - these are Search Engine programs that travel the internet and index web pages by noting keywords and content. They are also called spiders or robots.
