Decoding - the step in the communication process in which the receiver accepts and interprets the message. See Communication Process; Encoding.
decoding - The process by which a message recipient transforms and interprets a message.
Poor Decoding - This refers to a message receiver's error in processing the message so that the meaning given to the received message is not what the source intended.
The message is decoded by a car radio (decoding) and the target consumer interprets the message (receiver). He or she might visit a dealership or seek further information from a web site (Response).
