Demographic Data
Information describing and segmenting a population in terms of age, sex, income and so on, which can be used to target marketing campaigns.

 


Selects: Demographic data compiled/used to mail into a more specific segment of a list, e.g., specific states on a national list. A select charge, a fee to pull specific data, typically is applied.

Demographics Demographic data usually refers to the data which the Census Bureau or Canada Stats collects on a neighborhood such as income, education level, etc. This data can be appended to a household record.

Audilog - An early version of the paper diary used by Nielsen Media Research to gather demographic data from households in its national sample. Audilogs were introduced in 1953, and placed in sample homes already equipped with Recordimeters.

User Demographic: User demographic data includes characteristics about the type of user an advertiser may want to reach, such as gender or age group.
Visit: A visit is a user visiting a mobile website or app.

Thematic Maps:
Geographic maps that also contain demographic data as well as information specifically targeted to a particular company (ie sales in that area). Thematic maps are generally computer-generated.

On the other hand demographic data may signal to the company that another market (i.e., older market), which they may not have previously targeted, may hold potential for new products.

Some internet marketing platforms, such as AdCenter and AdWords, allow you to target ads at websites or searchers who fit amongst a specific demographic. Some common demographic data points are gender, age, income, education, location, etc.

Demographics The description of outward traits that characterize a group of people, such as age, sex, nationality, marital status, education, occupation or income. Decisions on market segmentation are often based on demographic data.

Registration The process where someone not only opts in to your email program but provides some additional information, such as name, address, demographic data or other relevant information, usually by using a Web form.
