Discretionary Income - the balance of a person's income which is available for spending after payment of the basic necessities of life and fixed commitments such as mortgage, rent and rates. See Disposable Income.

 


Discretionary Income Money left after paying taxes and buying necessities.
Disguised Survey A technique in which the respondent is not told the real purpose of a research study.

Discretionary Income: The amount of money consumers have to spend, once taxes and necessities or essentials (e.g., rent, food, medical care, transportation, insurance) are deducted.

Marketers love to target the DINKS and SINKS because they have lots of discretionary income and no children to spend it on, so they spend their extra money on themselves, their house, their pets and vacations.
