The drawback is that these are not a targeted public because the vast majority would have opted-in to the list in an interest to promote their own products rather than read and respond to the promotions of their fellow list members.

 


An additional drawback of qualitative research is that it can be time consuming and expensive and, consequently, only a very small portion of the marketer's desired market can participate in qualitative research.

There are certain drawbacks to online surveys. Some consumers may be more comfortable with online activities than others-and not all households will have access.

There are advantages and drawbacks to using a Web directory as opposed to a search engine. One vehicle may be better suited to certain types of searches than the other.

There are, however, a few drawbacks to viral marketing that can be less easily spotted. The first is that your campaign may be seen as SPAM if it is not executed well, and this will only damage the online reputation of your business.
