Merchant Account [1] An arrangement with a bank that enables merchants to accept credit card payments. [2] Most "brick and mortar" organizations already have a Merchant Account and need not apply for another one for use on the Internet.
Merchant Account: An account with a payment processor for settlement of credit card transactions. Any merchant that takes credit card orders must establish a merchant account.
