Sampling methods
Before an organisation conducts primary research it has to be clear which respondents it wishes to interview. A company cannot possible interview the whole population to get their opinions and views.

 


Sampling
The use of a statistically representative subset as a proxy for an entire population, for example in order to facilitate quantitative market research.

Sampling Error:
An assumed inaccuracy associated with using the sample results as an indication of the behavior of the population.
Sampling Fraction:
The ratio comparing sample size to population size.

Sampling Error - The difference in results between what a small sample of people think and what the results would be if the entire population were surveyed.
Sampling Point - The place at which sampling is conducted.

Sampling: This method of insertion offers a variety of "goody bags" distributed free to specific markets, i.e. college students, new mothers and other special interest groups. Inserts accompany product samples and coupons.

Sampling Instructions
Procedures an interviewer is to follow in selecting re-spondents to interview. These sampling instructions may also be called sampling plans or procedures or respondent selection.

Nth Sampling: When a subset of the list is constructed based on every Nth individual. For example, is one is doing Ninth-Testing, every ninth person on the list is sent an email.

3. Select a sampling method. Do we us a random sample, stratified sample, or cluster sample?
4. How will we analyze any data collected? What software will we use? What degree of accuracy is required?
5. Decide upon a budget and a timeframe.
