Text Ad
A text advertisement is one that contains words, often in a box, rather than an image or images. Text ads are commonly associated with Sponsored Links in Google AdWords.

An advertisement, or ad for short, refers to the sponsored links that people see when they enter in a keyword term for a search query and get a search engine results page back.

Additionally, the main search engines usually include sponsored links on this page which are targeted to the keywords used in the search. With Google, these sponsored links are generated by its AdWords pay per click advertising system.

Click: The action of a user clicking on your ad in the sponsored links or banner ad and going to your site. When this action occurs your account is charged the bid cost for that click. Also called a click through.

Once a user searches using those keywords, the advertiser then has their ad placed in the "sponsored links" or "sponsored ads" portion of the page and pays when the user clicks on the ad.

Sponsor - this commonly means the person paying for an online ad. Sponsored links are the parts on a website that contain advertising.

Advertisers paying for links to their websites to appear on internet search engines along side search results, sometimes as "sponsored links", based on keywords entered into the search engine. See 'Search Marketing'.

This does not only refer to sponsored links but also to the fact that companies with financial power can invest enough in their SEO actions that they get a high ranking even if their site is not that relevant.
