Wholesalers have distribution methods similar to those of retailers in that customers may or may not be able to physically visit the wholesaler's location to acquire their purchase.

Wholesale is basically the selling of goods in large scale to retailers who then resell - mostly in much smaller amounts - to the end consumer.
