As one of the National Centers for Environmental Prediction, it is the national center for weather information that is used daily by the Federal Aviation Administration, commercial airlines, and private pilots.

The nine centers are: Aviation Weather Center, Climate Prediction Center, Environmental Modeling Center, Hydrometeorological Prediction Center, Marine Prediction Center, NCEP Central Operations, Space Environment Center, ...

Some of the centers include the Aviation Weather Center, the Climate Prediction Center, the Storm Prediction Center, and the Tropical Prediction Center. Formerly known as NMC.

AWC: Acronym For: Aviation Weather Center
AWIPS: Acronym For: Advanced Weather Interactive Processing Systems.
AWOS: Acronym For: Automated Weather Observation System.
Azimuth: A direction in a circle of 360 degrees. Example: North = 360 Degs.

AWCAviation Weather CenterAWHPSArea Wide Hydrologic Prediction SystemAWIPSAdvanced Weather Interactive Processing System. This system replaced the Automation of Field Operations and Services (AFOS).
