Cirrus - A cirriform cloud composed of ice. Appears as fibrous strands.
Collision and coalescence - Process important in precipitation formation; involves the colliding of cloud drops or raindrops and the "sticking-together" of them.

CIRRUS: High clouds, usually above 18,000 feet, composed of ice crystals.
CLEAR: Sky condition of less than 1/10 cloud coverage.
CLIMATE: The historical record of average daily and seasonal weather events.

Cirrus (Ci): High clouds composed of ice-crystals that are whitish in color and can appear as filaments, patches or narrow bands.

cirrus: a high cloud made up of ice crystals that appear fibrous and silky.
climatology: scientific study of the climate, the causes of a climate, and the use of data to solve climate related problems.

CIRRUS One of the three basic cloud forms (the others are cumulus and stratus). It is also one of the three high cloud types. Cirrus are thin, wispy clouds composed of ice crystals and often appear as veil patches or strands.

Cirrus: A principal cloud type present at high altitudes, generally above 7000 metres, and composed of ice crystals. Cirrus comes from the Latin term for "curl or wisp of hair." ...

CIRRUS (CI) - High clouds, usually above 18,000 feet, composed of ice crystals.
CLASSIC EVENT- Having all the ingredients for a specific type of weather (i.e. classic severe weather event, classic Nor'easter) ...

Cirrus A high cloud composed of ice crystals in the form of thin, white, featherlike clouds in patches, filaments, or narrow bands.

Cirrus - One of three basic cloud forms; also one of the three high cloud types. They are thin, delicate ice-crystal clouds often appearing as veil-like patches or thin, wispy fibers.

Cirrus
Detached clouds in the form of white, delicate filaments or white or mostly white patches or narrow bands. These clouds have a fibrous (hair-like) appearance, or a silky sheen, or both.

Cirrus (Ci) They are thin, feather like clouds composed entirely of ice crystals. They form at altitudes between 16,500 to 45,000 feet above ground.

Cirrus cloud (Ci) A high thin cloud occurring as silky strands and composed of ice crystals.

cirrus—A cirriform cloud in the form of thin, white feather-like clouds in patches or narrow bands; have a fibrous and/or silky sheen; large ice crystals often trail downward a considerable vertical distance in fibrous, slanted, ...

Cirrus- High clouds, usually above 18,000 feet, composed of ice crystals and appearing in the form of white, delicate filaments or white or mostly white patches or narrow bands.
Clear- Sky condition of less than 1/10 cloud coverage.

CI- Cirrus
CIN or CIN/S- Convective Inhibition. A cap which prevents convection from occurring. A CIN of 50 or below is weak while 200 and above is very strong.

CIRRUS: A principal cloud type present at high altitudes above 18,000 feet and composed of ice crystals.
CIRROCUMULUS: A principal cloud type featuring cirrus clouds with vertical development.

Cirrus Clouds - Thin, wispy clouds that form high in the atmosphere as their water vapor freezes into ice crystals. Cirrus clouds are a principle cloud type.
Clear Sky - When the sky has no clouds.

Cirrus: a cloud of a class characterized by thin white filaments or narrow bands and a composition of ice crystals. These clouds are of high altitude (20,000-40,000 ft or 6000 -12,000 m).

CIRRUS - This, wispy clouds which usually develop above 30,000 feet.
CLEARANCE - A communication from Air Traffic Control authorizing a pilot to enter an area of controlled airspace.

Cirrus - Wispy white feathers high up in the air.
Cumulonimbus - Cumulus + Nimbus (giving precipitation). Very high piles of cloud, dark and mysterious and lead to thunderstorms.

CIRRUS - High level clouds composed mainly of ice crystals. There are many cirrus type clouds such as CIRROSTRATUS and CIRROCUMULUS. The word "cirrus" comes from the Greek word meaning wispy.

High clouds form above 20,000 feet in the cold region of the troposphere, and are denoted by the prefix CIRRO or CIRRUS. At this altitude water almost always freezes so clouds are composed of ice crystals.

"Abraham's tree" is the name given to a cloud form which consists of feather and plume like appendages of cirrus emanating from a point on the distant horizon.

A sundog is a relatively common atmospheric optical phenomenon associated with the reflection/refraction of sunlight by the numerous small ice crystals that make up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.

Clouds can be categorized into two general groups: cumulus clouds (tall, cotton ball) and stratus clouds (layered); these can be divided even further to 4 sub-groups describing altitude: 20,000 ft and above are the cirrus or cirro clouds ...
